Description: Eltex Flex Links MIB for managing active/backup port pairs providing link redundancy on Eltex Ethernet switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ELTEX-FLEX-LINKS-MIB?
This Eltex private enterprise MIB manages the Flex Links feature on Eltex Ethernet switches, a Layer 2 link-redundancy mechanism where one interface acts as an automatic backup to another primary interface as an alternative to running Spanning Tree Protocol. It exposes configuration objects pairing a primary and backup interface, extended settings for preemption mode and preemption delay, and a status table reporting the real-time operational state of each Flex Links interface pair, plus a notification for status changes. Its monitoring value centers on link/interface status: administrators can see which interface in a Flex Links pair is currently active versus standby, and receive a trap when that state changes, revealing a primary-link failure and automatic cutover to the backup. It is a standalone feature MIB but conceptually serves as an alternative to standard STP/RSTP MIBs used elsewhere in switch management. It is deployed on Eltex MES switches in networks (often service-provider or enterprise access rings) that want fast Layer 2 failover without the convergence delay of Spanning Tree. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ELTEX-FLEX-LINKS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-FLEX-LINKS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Eltex MES Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin configures a pair via eltexFlIfConfigTable/eltexFlIfConfigEntry, setting eltexFlIfConfigPrimary and eltexFlIfConfigBackUp, then monitors eltexFlIfStatusTable/eltexFlIfStatusEntry keyed by eltexFlIfIndex to see which interface is currently forwarding. Enabling eltexFlEnableStatusChangeNotif lets the switch send a trap the moment the primary interface fails and traffic switches to the backup, while eltexFlIfConfigPreemptionDelay governs how quickly traffic reverts once the primary recovers.
What Can Be Monitored
- primary/backup interface pairing
- active interface in Flex Links pair
- preemption mode and delay
- link status change events
