Description: Manages DPS Telecom text-based Remote Telemetry Unit (RTU) alarm and monitoring configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DPS-TEXT-RTU-MIB?
DPS-TEXT-RTU-MIB is DPS Telecom's proprietary MIB for its text-based Remote Telemetry Unit (RTU), a device used to collect alarm and telemetry data at unmanned telecom or utility sites. It exposes device identity/configuration data (date-time, device type, phone number), analog point data (readings and thresholds), and discrete/contact point data, all organized around an alarm-grid concept. Its core purpose is monitoring the hardware and environmental status of a remote site: analog channels typically carry sensor readings like temperature, battery voltage, or humidity, while discrete/contact points report binary conditions such as door-open or power-fail alarms, and threshold comparisons flag when a reading crosses into an alarm condition. There is no evident dependency on other standard MIBs; it is a self-contained proprietary schema. It is typically deployed in telecom central offices, cell sites, and utility substations where a central NOC polls dozens of remote RTUs, making DPS-TEXT-RTU-MIB SNMP monitoring a standard part of unattended-site alarm monitoring deployments.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DPS-TEXT-RTU-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- DPS Telecom Remote Telemetry Unit (RTU)
- telecom/utility remote site alarm monitoring equipment
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll dpsTEXTRTUv2APoint and dpsTEXTRTUv2AState together with dpsTEXTRTUAnalogvalue to see the current reading and state of an analog channel, comparing it against dpsTEXTRTUAnalogthresholds to detect an out-of-range condition such as an overheating equipment cabinet. For discrete alarms, dpsTEXTRTUv2CPoint and dpsTEXTRTUv2CDisplay would be polled to check contact-sensor status like a door or intrusion switch. The dpsTEXTRTUv2AlarmGrid object gives a consolidated view of all analog and contact points at once, letting an operator quickly spot which of many remote sites has an active alarm.
What Can Be Monitored
- analog alarm point readings
- analog threshold breaches
- discrete/contact alarm point status
- device identification and type
- RTU date/time synchronization
- consolidated alarm grid status
