Description: Manages Priority Flow Control (PFC) configuration for lossless data center Ethernet on Dell DNOS switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DNOS-PFC-MIB?

DNOS-PFC-MIB is a Dell-specific MIB (registered under the dnOS enterprise subtree as fastPathPFC) that manages IEEE 802.1Qbb Priority-based Flow Control on Dell PowerConnect/Force10 DNOS switches used for lossless data center Ethernet (FCoE/iSCSI/RoCE fabrics). It exposes per-interface PFC administration and operational state (agentPfcIntfAdminMode, agentPfcIntfPfcStatus) in the agentPfcTable, per-priority pause/no-pause actions negotiated via DCBX (agentPfcAction, agentPfcOperAction, agentPfcAdvAction, agentPfcPeerAction) in agentPfcActionTable, and both aggregate and per-priority PFC frame counters (agentPfcTotalIntfPfcFramesRx/Tx, agentPfcIntfPfcPriorityFramesRx/Tx). Monitoring this MIB reveals whether lossless-queue negotiation with a DCB peer succeeded and whether pause frames are actually being exchanged, which is critical for diagnosing storage traffic drops or unexpected congestion in converged Ethernet fabrics. It depends on the underlying IF-MIB ifIndex space and DCBX peer discovery mechanisms on the switch. Administrators managing Dell data-center switches can download the DNOS-PFC-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser and track PFC health across interfaces.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DNOS-PFC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell PowerConnect / Force10 DNOS switches (data center Ethernet fabric)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls agentPfcIntfPfcStatus and agentPfcIntfPeerDetected for a storage-facing interface to confirm PFC is active and a DCBX peer was found, then checks agentPfcIntfPeerCfgCompatible and agentPfcIntfPeerIncompatibleCfgCount; a rising incompatible-configuration count alongside an inactive PFC status would indicate a lossless-fabric misconfiguration causing drops on that link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-interface PFC admin/operational status
  • per-priority pause/no-pause action state
  • DCBX peer detection and willingness
  • peer configuration compatibility counters
  • aggregate and per-priority PFC frame counters
  • link delay allowance
