What Is DFL1660-MIB?

DFL1660-MIB is a D-Link vendor-specific MIB written for the DFL-1660 series firewall/UTM security appliance. It exposes hardware health through dfl1660HWSensorTable (indexed sensor name/value/unit entries for temperature, fan, and voltage sensors), traffic and policy visibility through dfl1660RuleUseTable and the per-interface dfl1660IfStatsTable/dfl1660IfVlanStatsTable/dfl1660IfRxRingTable/dfl1660IfTxRingTable, and application-layer gateway state via dfl1660HttpAlgTable and dfl1660SmtpAlgTable, alongside traffic-shaping objects in dfl1660PipeTable/dfl1660PipePrecTable and DHCP service tables (dfl1660DHCPRelayRuleTable, dfl1660DHCPRuleTable, dfl1660IPPoolTable). This combination of hardware sensors, per-rule hit counters, and ALG/DHCP state makes it useful for both physical health monitoring and security-policy effectiveness checks on the appliance. It is self-contained and does not depend on other vendor MIBs beyond standard SNMPv2-SMI/TC imports. It is deployed on D-Link DFL-1660 firewall appliances protecting small-to-midsize network perimeters, and security teams typically perform a DFL1660-MIB download from D-Link to load the module into their monitoring system.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DFL1660-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link DFL-1660 firewall/UTM security appliance

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls dfl1660HWSensorTable for the appliance's fan and temperature sensor values and cross-checks dfl1660RuleUseTable hit counts for a critical security rule; a fan sensor reading of zero combined with a rising temperature sensor value would flag imminent thermal risk to the firewall hardware.

What Can Be Monitored

  • hardware sensor table readings (temperature/fan/voltage)
  • firewall rule usage counters
  • traffic shaping pipe/precedence table entries
  • interface RX/TX ring and VLAN statistics
  • DHCP relay/rule and IP pool table entries

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using dfl1660SysForwardedBits OID:

Select a D-Link DFL-1660 firewall/UTM security appliance as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type dfl1660SysForwardedBits into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. The number of bits forwarded through the gateway. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
