Description: L2 management MIB for D-Link DGS-3216 16-port Gigabit switch covering VLANs, STP, and L2 management features.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DGS3216-L2MGMT-MIB?

DGS3216-L2MGMT-MIB is a D-Link Corp. proprietary enterprise MIB (registered under dgs3216, imported from SW3200PRIMGMT-MIB) providing extensive Layer 2 management for the D-Link DGS-3216 16-port Gigabit switch and related DGS-32xx-family products, as reflected by its long revision history spanning many D-Link switch projects. It covers device-level controls (STP, IGMP snooping, RMON, SNMP trap, Telnet/Web/SSH access, LLDP, CFM, MAC notification, VLAN trunking), a static VLAN table with per-VLAN advertisement control and a VLAN/port-role table, and per-port information and control tables covering medium type, link status, N-way speed/duplex negotiation results, and an error-disabled state that flags ports blocked by storm control, loop-back detection (LBD), or power-saving. It also includes a port error table distinguishing STP-LBD, storm-control, and CTP-LBD causes, a port counter-clear control table, and numerous now-superseded or commented-out tables (e.g., cable diagnostics, multicast filtering) reflecting the MIB's long evolution across firmware releases. This breadth makes it a primary source for both configuring and diagnosing L2 switching behavior—VLAN membership, spanning-tree health, and per-port error/blocking state—on the target hardware. It is deployed on D-Link DGS-3216/DGS-32xx-family Gigabit switches, and administrators can download the DGS3216-L2MGMT-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DGS3216-L2MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link DGS-3216 / DGS-32xx-family Gigabit switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls swL2PortInfoTable's swL2PortInfoLinkStatus and swL2PortInfoErrorDisabled for a port showing no traffic, and if swL2PortInfoErrorDisabled reports lbd(2) or storm(1), cross-references swL2PortErrTable's swL2PortErrPortReason for the specific trigger; a port shown as link-pass but error-disabled with reason stp-lbd(1) would indicate the port was shut down by loop-back detection rather than a physical link fault.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port link status and N-way negotiation result
  • port error-disabled state and specific error reason
  • static VLAN table and per-port VLAN role
  • STP/IGMP-snooping/LLDP/CFM global and per-port state
  • port counter clear-control status
