Category: Vendor: Dell
Description: Handles out-of-band management, user access, and hardware for the Dell Remote Access Controller.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DELLRAC-MIB?
DELLRAC-MIB is Dell's proprietary MIB for the Dell Remote Access Controller (DRAC/iDRAC), the embedded out-of-band management controller found in Dell PowerEdge servers. It exposes product identity and asset data, including manufacturer, model, firmware/product version, chassis and system service tags, and asset tags/location, reflecting DRAC's role as a lights-out hardware management interface. Its core monitoring value is hardware identification and asset tracking rather than live performance counters: administrators use it to confirm exactly which server chassis, service tag, and firmware version they are managing out-of-band, independent of host OS state. It is a largely self-contained Dell enterprise MIB branch with no significant dependency on external standard MIBs. It is typically deployed in data centers where DELLRAC-MIB SNMP monitoring of the DRAC/iDRAC interface, often alongside Dell OpenManage, supports hardware inventory and asset audits across a PowerEdge server fleet.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DELLRAC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell PowerEdge servers (via DRAC/iDRAC out-of-band controller)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polling drsProductName, drsProductManufacturer, and drsProductVersion can confirm exactly which Dell PowerEdge model and firmware/hardware revision is running, while drsChassisServiceTag and drsSystemServiceTag return the unique Dell service tags used for support entitlement and asset tracking. drsProductChassisLocation and drsProductChassisName help correlate a DRAC-managed chassis to its physical rack position during a fleet inventory sweep. A common workflow is a scheduled SNMP scan that flags any server whose reported service tag or asset tag no longer matches the asset database, indicating a swapped or miscataloged chassis.
What Can Be Monitored
- product name and manufacturer
- product/firmware version
- chassis service tag
- system service tag
- chassis asset tag
- chassis location and name
