Description: Defines common management objects shared across DEC HUB 900 series network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DECHUB900-COMMON-MIB-V3-0?

DECHUB900-COMMON-MIB-V3-0 is a legacy Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC/Compaq) MIB defining management objects common to modules installed in the DEChub 900 series network hub chassis. It exposes hardware-oriented data such as per-module operational and administrative status, diagnostic failure indications, serial numbers, slot numbers, and hub identification/addressing information, plus an LED status table for front-panel indicators. This MIB is explicitly focused on hardware health monitoring: pcomOperStatus and pcomAdminStatus reveal whether a hub module is up, down, or disabled, pcomDiagFailure flags failed self-test/diagnostic conditions, and pcomLedTable exposes the visual fault/status LEDs an on-site technician would otherwise have to check physically. It is a vendor-specific legacy MIB predating widespread adoption of standard IETF entity/chassis MIBs, so it does not rely on other MIB modules for its core semantics. It was typically deployed in the 1990s-era DEChub 900 modular network hub chassis used in enterprise wiring closets. Engineers can download the DECHUB900-COMMON-MIB-V3-0 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DECHUB900-COMMON-MIB-V3-0. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • DEC/Compaq DEChub 900 modular hub chassis
  • DEChub 900 network modules

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll pcomOperStatus and pcomAdminStatus for each slot to detect a module that has gone administratively down or failed operationally, then check pcomDiagFailure to see if a hardware self-test failure was the cause. Walking pcomLedTable (pcomLedIndex) lets a management station mirror the physical LED state remotely, so a red fault LED reported through SNMP can trigger an alert without a technician needing to visit the wiring closet. pcomSerialNumber and pcomSlotNumber help correlate a reported problem to the exact physical module and chassis slot for a truck roll or RMA.

What Can Be Monitored

  • module operational status
  • module administrative status
  • diagnostic self-test failures
  • module serial number and slot
  • hub identification and IP address
  • front-panel LED state
