Category: QoS

Description: Manages QoS traffic classification, marking, and queue scheduling on DASAN network switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DASAN-QOS-MIB?

DASAN-QOS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from DASAN Networks (a maker of Ethernet access switches and DSLAMs) that governs quality-of-service behavior on their switch platforms. It exposes configuration data for classifying traffic into rules, mapping those rules to CoS/DSCP/ToS markings, and scheduling queues, rather than raw hardware sensors. Its main monitoring value is confirming the software-configured QoS policy state on the device -- for example verifying that a rule is active and correctly bound to a queue -- so operators can catch misconfigured or disabled QoS policies that would otherwise cause voice/video traffic to be treated as best-effort. It is closely tied to standard networking QoS concepts (DSCP, ToS, CoS) and typically layers on top of the switch's base interface and VLAN MIBs. It is deployed on DASAN managed Ethernet switches in carrier-access and enterprise networks, where DASAN-QOS-MIB SNMP monitoring confirms traffic prioritization policy is applied as configured.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DASAN-QOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • DASAN Networks managed Ethernet switch
  • DASAN DSLAM/access switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would inspect dsQosRuleTable and dsQosRuleActionTable to confirm a classification rule (e.g., matching VoIP traffic) exists and its associated action is enabled, then cross-check dsQosCos2QueueMapTable and dsQosQueueSchedulingTable to verify that CoS value maps to the expected priority queue and scheduling weight. If dsQosRule2DscpMapTable shows an unexpected DSCP remark for a rule, that would explain why downstream QoS treatment for that traffic class is wrong. This is primarily a configuration/state-verification MIB rather than a counters MIB.

What Can Be Monitored

  • QoS classification rule status
  • rule-to-action bindings
  • CoS to DSCP/ToS mapping
  • CoS to queue mapping
  • queue scheduling configuration
