Category: Vendor: Cabletron/Enterasys

Description: Manages Cabletron SFPS connection configuration, admission control, and per-connection traffic parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CTRON-SFPS-CONNECTION-MIB?

CTRON-SFPS-CONNECTION-MIB is a Cabletron Systems vendor MIB for managing SFPS (Switched Fast Path Services / cell-switching fabric) connections, covering configuration and status of individual switched connections including source/destination and primary/secondary port pairs. It exposes a connection table capturing admission control parameters, control and admin status, and connection age. This MIB is primarily a connection-configuration/status MIB used to monitor whether individual switched paths through the fabric are up, correctly routed between the intended ports, and how long they have been established, which helps detect misconfigured or stale connections and admission-control failures. It has no explicitly stated dependency on other MIBs beyond general SMI/interface conventions typical of Cabletron's SFPS product line. It is deployed on Cabletron switching/fabric equipment providing path-switched connectivity in enterprise or carrier networks. Engineers can download the CTRON-SFPS-CONNECTION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SFPS-CONNECTION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cabletron Systems SFPS switching fabric equipment

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll sfpsConnectionTable/sfpsConnectionEntry to check sfpsConnectionSource and sfpsConnectionDestination against sfpsConnectionPrimInPort/sfpsConnectionPrimOutPort to confirm a connection is routed as expected. If sfpsConnectionCtrlStatus or sfpsConnectionAdminStatus shows the connection down while sfpsConnectionSecInPort/sfpsConnectionSecOutPort indicate a secondary path exists, that would reveal a failover to backup ports has occurred. sfpsConnectionAge would be checked to see how long a suspect connection has been established, useful for spotting stale or flapping connections.

What Can Be Monitored

  • connection source/destination
  • primary and secondary port assignment
  • connection control/admin status
  • connection age
