Category: Vendor: Ceragon

Description: Provides network topology and interconnection objects for Ceragon microwave radio deployments.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CM-TOPOLOGY-MIB?

CM-TOPOLOGY-MIB is an ADVA Optical Networking module for the FSP150CM/CC (F3) product line that models network topology: the regions, items (network elements), and links interconnecting them within a managed microwave/packet transport network. It exposes configuration and discovery data describing logical regions (cmTopologyRegionId/Descr), inventoried topology items, and point-to-point links between ports, along with a last-update timestamp for the topology database. Its monitoring value is primarily about software/topology status rather than hardware sensors: confirming the topology database is current (cmTopologyRegionLastUpdateTime), that expected network elements appear in cmTopologyItemTable, and that links in cmTopologyLinkTable correctly connect the expected cmTopologyLinkFromPort to cmTopologyLinkToPort, since a missing or stale link entry can indicate a lost management connection or physical link failure. It builds on identifiers and conventions established in CM-COMMON-MIB for naming shelves, ports, and product types. It is typically deployed on ADVA/Ceragon FSP150 microwave/packet network elements participating in a managed regional network topology, where CM-TOPOLOGY-MIB SNMP monitoring supports topology-database integrity checks across the region.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CM-TOPOLOGY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADVA/Ceragon FSP150CM/FSP150CC microwave and packet transport network element

Monitoring Examples

A network management system would poll cmTopologyItemTable/Entry to enumerate cmTopologyItemId/cmTopologyItemDescr entries and confirm all expected network elements are still discovered within a cmTopologyRegionId. Checking cmTopologyLinkTable's cmTopologyLinkFromPort/cmTopologyLinkToPort pairs against the expected physical link map reveals if a microwave link has been re-homed or dropped from topology. A stale cmTopologyRegionLastUpdateTime relative to the polling interval would indicate the topology discovery process has stalled, meaning the topology view may no longer reflect real network state.

What Can Be Monitored

  • topology region identity and description
  • topology last-update timestamp
  • discovered network element/item list
  • inter-element link mappings (from-port/to-port)
