An administrator tunes this to control the granularity of the histogram data collected for round-trip delay, one-way delay, and jitter without changing the SLA test itself. For example, shortening this interval from 15 minutes to 5 minutes lets an engineer see a suspected intermittent jitter problem show up in a finer-grained distribution bin instead of being averaged away over a longer window.
