Module: CM-FACILITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CM-FACILITY-MIB::cmEthernetTrafficPortExpDEEncType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.12.4.1.27.1.128

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: PcpDEEncType

Access: read-write

Description: This is a port level control that specifies the mode of drop eligibility encoding in exp bits of the VLAN tag.

What is cmEthernetTrafficPortExpDEEncType?

This read-write, port-level control object selects the mode used to encode drop-eligibility information within the exp (experimental/priority) bits of the VLAN tag. An administrator sets this to determine how color/drop-priority information is packed alongside class-of-service bits in the tag, which affects how downstream devices interpret those bits for congestion management. For example, choosing a particular PCP/DE encoding type here ensures the port's tagging scheme is compatible with a peer network element expecting drop-eligibility signaled the same way.
