Module: CM-FACILITY-MIB
OID (symbolic): CM-FACILITY-MIB::cmEthernetNetPortXgePhyType
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.12.4.1.7.1.92
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: XgePhyType
Access: read-write
Description: This object allows to specify the PHY type of 10G Ethernet Port. 10G ports can operate in LAN-PHY or WAN-PHY mode. The default mode is LAN-PHY and port rate in this mode is 10Gbps. In WAN-PHY mode the port rate is 9.29Gbps. This attribute is only applicable for ports configured to work at speed-10G-full. For other speeds the value of this object must be 'not-applicable' and cannot be changed.
What is cmEthernetNetPortXgePhyType?
This read-write XgePhyType object specifies whether a 10G Ethernet Network Port operates in LAN-PHY mode (10 Gbps line rate, the default) or WAN-PHY mode (9.29 Gbps line rate); only applicable at the speed-10G-full setting, and forced to 'not-applicable' and unchangeable at other speeds. Admins set this to match the interconnecting equipment's PHY expectations, since LAN-PHY and WAN-PHY framing are incompatible with each other despite both running over the same 10GBASE optics. For example, interconnecting with SONET/SDH-based transport gear that expects WAN-PHY framing, an admin would set cmEthernetNetPortXgePhyType to WAN-PHY rather than leaving the port on its default LAN-PHY mode.
