cmEthernetNetPortQLModeEnabled
Module: CM-FACILITY-MIB
OID (symbolic): CM-FACILITY-MIB::cmEthernetNetPortQLModeEnabled
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.12.4.1.7.1.82
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: TruthValue
Access: read-write
Description: This object allows to specify whether the Ethernet Network Port can be enabled/disabled for QL Mode. This object is only applicable for Synchronous Ethernet capable ports, when cmEthernetNetPortQLModeEnabled is set to true. When enabled, on receive side -port shall PEER the SSM (Sync Status Messages) slow protocol PDUs and take appropriate action When enabled, on transmit side -port shall periodically (once a second) transmit QL TLV information PDUs When disabled, on receive side, -port shall terminate and discard any SSM slow protocol PDUs When disabled, on transmit side -port shall not transmit any SSM slow protocol PDUs.
What is cmEthernetNetPortQLModeEnabled?
This read-write TruthValue enables or disables Quality Level (QL) mode on a Synchronous-Ethernet-capable port; when enabled, the port peers Sync Status Message (SSM) slow-protocol PDUs on receive and periodically transmits its own SSM PDUs. Admins turn this on when the network needs full SSM-based clock-quality negotiation, so downstream equipment can automatically select the best available timing source rather than relying on a fixed assumption. For example, in a ring topology with multiple potential clock sources, enabling cmEthernetNetPortQLModeEnabled lets the port participate in SSM exchange so the network can automatically fail over to a backup timing source if the primary degrades.
