bitsPortIndex is a read-only integer that, together with the NE, shelf, and slot indices, uniquely identifies a specific BITS timing port on a card. This lets management software distinguish multiple BITS ports on the same slot when a card provides more than one physical timing interface. For example, a card with two BITS-OUT connectors would expose two rows differing only in this index value so each can be individually configured and monitored.
