Last Updated: 2015-06-30
Category: VLAN and Bridging, Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB
Description: Provides LAN management objects including VLAN, STP, and port configuration for Cisco Small Business switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCOSBLAN1-MIB?
CISCOSBLAN1-MIB supports the 'Lan1' feature set on Cisco Small Business switches, covering VLAN tag/QinQ configuration (such as the outer S-tag EtherType and control-plane VLAN ID/CoS) as well as VLAN-to-group mapping and MAC-address mapping used for traffic destined to an internal control port. It is primarily a Layer 2 configuration MIB, defining tables that map VLAN IDs to internal group identifiers and destination MAC addresses to specific mapping entries, rather than exposing hardware sensors or fault counters. For status monitoring, these mapping tables are useful for diagnosing Layer 2 forwarding problems, since a missing or misconfigured VLAN or MAC mapping entry can explain why traffic isn't reaching an internal control-plane port as expected. It builds on standard 802.1Q VLAN tagging concepts and Cisco's internal x86-based control port architecture used on certain Small Business switch models. The CISCOSBLAN1-MIB MIB is deployed on Cisco Small Business switches that implement this particular internal LAN1 control-plane architecture.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSBLAN1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Small Business switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator configures rlLan1STagEtherType to set the outer QinQ tag type and rlLan1CPVlanId/rlLan1CPVlanCos to define the control-plane VLAN and its class-of-service marking. The rlLan1x86VlanMappingTable maps VLAN IDs to internal group IDs for traffic bound for the onboard x86 control port (rlLan1x86Port), while rlLan1VfMacMappingTable maps destination MAC addresses to specific internal mapping entries. If traffic to a given MAC address fails to reach the control-plane port, the admin would check whether the corresponding entry in rlLan1VfMacMappingTable is present and correctly configured.
What Can Be Monitored
- S-tag/QinQ EtherType configuration
- control-plane VLAN ID and CoS marking
- VLAN-to-group mapping entries
- destination MAC-to-VF mapping entries
