Description: Manages Cisco Small Business Bonjour protocol settings for mDNS service discovery on the switch.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCOSB-BONJOUR-MIB?
CISCOSB-BONJOUR-MIB is a Cisco Small Business private MIB for managing Bonjour (mDNS) service discovery settings on Cisco Small Business switches. Its scope, per the available object, centers on a publish-control setting (rlBonjourPublish) that governs whether the switch advertises itself via Bonjour/mDNS on the local network. This is a lightweight configuration/software-status MIB rather than a hardware or performance monitoring one: it lets an admin confirm whether mDNS advertisement is enabled, which affects device discoverability by Bonjour-aware management tools. It has no significant dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMPv2 SMI conventions. It is deployed in Cisco Small Business switch environments where zero-configuration network discovery via Bonjour is used for device management convenience. Engineers can download the CISCOSB-BONJOUR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-BONJOUR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Small Business switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check the rlBonjourPublish object to confirm whether Bonjour advertisement is enabled or disabled on a given Cisco Small Business switch. If a management tool relying on mDNS discovery fails to find the switch, checking rlBonjourPublish would quickly reveal whether the feature was administratively disabled rather than indicating a network fault. Given the very small sample_objects set, this module appears narrowly scoped to that single control.
What Can Be Monitored
- Bonjour/mDNS publish (advertisement) enabled state
