Description: Defines agent capability statements for Cisco WAN Frame Relay port management on MGX platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-WAN-FR-PORT-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-WAN-FR-PORT-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module declaring which features of the companion Frame Relay port MIB, for Cisco WAN switching Frame Relay Service Modules such as FRSM-12, a specific agent software version implements. Like other capability modules it carries no runtime data of its own; instead it enumerates supported object groups and compliance statements tied to particular hardware/firmware combinations, exemplified by the cwFrPortCapabilityFrsm12V3R00 capability for the FRSM-12 module. It supports management tooling in confirming, prior to deployment, which Frame Relay port configuration and status features a given FRSM card's firmware release exposes, rather than reporting live hardware or software status itself. It is explicitly dependent on the underlying Cisco Frame Relay port MIB it describes and follows the standard SNMPv2 AGENT-CAPABILITIES conventions. It is used alongside Cisco MGX WAN switch Frame Relay Service Modules during MIB compilation and compatibility checking, not for active polling. Engineers can download the CISCO-WAN-FR-PORT-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-WAN-FR-PORT-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco MGX WAN switch (Frame Relay Service Module, e.g. FRSM-12)

Monitoring Examples

This module defines no OBJECT-TYPE data objects, sample_objects is empty, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it only lists which groups of the associated Frame Relay port MIB (e.g., for the FRSM-12 module at software revision V3R00) are supported. Management systems consult it to decide which Frame Relay port objects are safe to poll on a given card, but the module itself is never polled at runtime.
