Description: Manages transparent bridge device interfaces providing per-interface bridging statistics and configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-TBRIDGE-DEV-IF-MIB?
CISCO-TBRIDGE-DEV-IF-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB that supports configuration and status reporting for devices implementing transparent bridging on their network interfaces. It exposes per-interface bridging configuration data, including default and per-interface physical (MAC), IP address, and IP mask settings, organized in the ctbrDevInterfaceTable. While primarily configuration-oriented, its per-interface addressing entries can be used to confirm hardware interface identity and configuration health — e.g., verifying a bridged interface has expected physical/IP addressing rather than a misconfigured default value. It builds on standard bridging/interface concepts and complements, rather than replaces, IF-MIB and BRIDGE-MIB style monitoring on Cisco devices that support transparent bridging. It is typically deployed on Cisco routers/switches configured for transparent bridging between LAN segments, and administrators can download the CISCO-TBRIDGE-DEV-IF-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-TBRIDGE-DEV-IF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco router/switch supporting transparent bridging
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll ctbrDevInterfaceTable/ctbrDevInterfaceEntry to enumerate bridging-capable interfaces and check each entry's ctbrIpAddressType, ctbrIpAddress, ctbrIpMaskType, and ctbrIpMask against expected configuration, alongside ctbrPhyAddress for the interface's MAC address. If an entry shows the ctbrDefaultIpAddress instead of a configured production address, that indicates the bridge interface reverted to defaults, a configuration anomaly worth investigating.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-interface bridging configuration
- interface physical (MAC) address
- interface IP address and mask
- default vs. configured addressing state
