Description: Declares agent capabilities for CALEA lawful intercept version 2 tap management on Cisco platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-TAP2-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-TAP2-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES statement describing which parts of CISCO-TAP2-MIB (the second-generation Cisco lawful intercept/CALEA tap management MIB) are supported on a given platform and release. Like other Cisco capability modules, it defines no scalars or tables of its own but instead maps implementation status and variations of CISCO-TAP2-MIB objects. It is not used for hardware or software health monitoring; its role is purely to inform NMS tooling or MIB compilers about lawful-intercept feature support per device/software version. Its sole functional dependency is on CISCO-TAP2-MIB, which it profiles. It is typically consumed by carrier-grade network management systems and compliance tooling that must confirm CALEA tap capabilities exist before provisioning intercepts, rather than by general infrastructure monitoring dashboards, which is why the CISCO-TAP2-CAPABILITY MIB is referenced mainly by compliance and provisioning tooling rather than day-to-day monitoring systems.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-TAP2-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IOS/IOS XE devices supporting lawful intercept
- vendor-neutral in role (capabilities/conformance document only)
Monitoring Examples
The sample_objects list is empty, and as an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module CISCO-TAP2-CAPABILITY defines no monitorable runtime objects of its own. It simply records which CISCO-TAP2-MIB groups (tap streams, mediation device configuration, etc.) a device implements. Any real-time monitoring of intercept status would be performed against CISCO-TAP2-MIB itself, not against this conformance document.
