Category: Cisco Devices, SNMP Framework
Description: Declares agent capability statements for SNMP User-based Security Model (USM) management MIB on Cisco devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-SNMP-USM-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-SNMP-USM-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module declaring which features of the standard SNMP-USER-BASED-SM-MIB (User-based Security Model for SNMPv3) a Cisco device's SNMP agent supports. It belongs to Cisco's SNMP security-framework conformance MIB family. Being a pure capability declaration, it exposes no runtime authentication/privacy state, user table contents, or security event data; it only lists supported object groups. It is entirely dependent on the standard SNMP-USER-BASED-SM-MIB (RFC 3414) it profiles. Such capability statements are used by management platforms to confirm SNMPv3 USM feature support before configuring authenticated/encrypted SNMP access on a Cisco device. Engineers can download the CISCO-SNMP-USM-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-SNMP-USM-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco routers/switches (SNMPv3 agents)
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects (sample_objects is empty), so no monitoring scenario applies; it only declares supported SNMP-USER-BASED-SM-MIB features.
