What Is CISCO-MEDIATRACE-MIB?

CISCO-MEDIATRACE-MIB is a Cisco Systems vendor-private MIB for the Mediatrace feature, which discovers an IP flow's hop-by-hop path and dynamically enables monitoring on each node along it to diagnose network degradation for voice/video traffic. It models the device's Initiator and Responder roles via scalar objects (cMTInitiatorEnable, cMTInitiatorSourceAddress, cMTInitiatorMaxSessions, cMTInitiatorActiveSessions/PendingSessions/InactiveSessions and their Responder-side counterparts cMTResponderEnable, cMTResponderMaxSessions, cMTResponderActiveSessions), and defines the building blocks of a trace session in cMTFlowSpecifierTable (which IP flow to trace), cMTPathSpecifierTable (the discovered hop path), cMTSessionParamsTable and cMTSessionTable (session configuration and live state), cMTMediaMonitorProfileTable and cMTSystemProfileTable (which metrics to collect, such as interface/CPU/memory utilization and flow statistics), and cMTScheduleTable (recurring collection schedule). This is useful for confirming Mediatrace is actively discovering and monitoring a problematic flow's path and for reviewing collected hop-by-hop statistics when troubleshooting jitter, loss, or route changes affecting real-time traffic. It depends on the device's underlying flow-monitor and bridge infrastructure (CISCO-FLOW-MONITOR-TC-MIB, Q-BRIDGE-MIB) to gather the actual per-hop metrics, and is deployed on Cisco routers/switches configured as Mediatrace initiators or responders, matching the cisco mediatrace configuration and troubleshooting workflows administrators search for.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-MEDIATRACE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor.
