Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-LWAPP-GUEST-LAN-MIB?

CISCO-LWAPP-GUEST-LAN-MIB manages wired guest-LAN access profiles on a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller, which can extend guest network access to both wireless and wired ports. It exposes a guest-LAN profile table defining each profile's name, associated wired VLAN, security method (e.g. local web authentication), authentication/authorization list references, and a maximum client count. This is primarily a configuration-status MIB, letting administrators confirm guest access policies are correctly provisioned -- verifying the right VLAN and authentication method are bound to a guest profile and checking whether a guest LAN is approaching its client limit. It relies on the controller's AAA/authentication and authorization list infrastructure referenced by its authentication/authorization list objects. It is deployed on Cisco wireless LAN controllers providing wired and wireless guest network access in enterprises, and administrators can download the CISCO-LWAPP-GUEST-LAN-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for guest-profile monitoring.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-LWAPP-GUEST-LAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers

Monitoring Examples

An admin inspects cLGuestLanTable/cLGuestLanEntry keyed by cLGuestLanIndex to confirm a given cLGuestLanProfileName has cLGuestLanHasWiredVlan set and the expected cLGuestLanWiredVlan assigned, along with cLGuestLanSecurityWebAuth and cLGuestLanWebAuthParameter for web-authentication guest access. Watching client counts against cLGuestLanClientLimit reveals when a guest LAN profile is nearing capacity, and cLGuestLanRowStatus shows whether a profile is currently active.

What Can Be Monitored

  • guest LAN profile configuration
  • wired VLAN assignment
  • web authentication settings
  • guest client count vs limit
  • profile row/active status
