Category: Cisco Devices, Hardware and Environment

Description: Records historical sensor readings for Cisco physical entity sensors, enabling trend analysis of temperature, voltage, and current.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-HISTORY-MIB?

CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-HISTORY-MIB is a Cisco Systems proprietary MIB extending the standard ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB with historical data collection for physical sensors (temperature, voltage, fan speed, etc.). Its collection table records, per sensor, the interval time, number of collected/invalid intervals, maximum intervals retained, elapsed time, and collection algorithm (raw value vs. Simple Moving Average), while a companion interval table stores each historical interval's sequence number, sensor value, and timestamp. As a performance/hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator retrieve a sensor's recent trend (e.g., temperature over the last N intervals) rather than just its instantaneous value. It is deployed on Cisco platforms supporting historical sensor data collection. Engineers can download the CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-HISTORY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-HISTORY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco platforms (historical sensor data collection)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator walks ceshCollectionIntervalTable for a temperature sensor to see its trend over the past several collection intervals, rather than relying on a single instantaneous reading.

What Can Be Monitored

  • historical sensor value trends (temperature, voltage, fan speed, etc.)
