What Is CISCO-ITP-SP-MIB?
CISCO-ITP-SP-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB for managing SS7 Signalling Points on the Cisco IP Transfer Point (ITP), a hardware-and-software platform that transports SS7 traffic over IP per ITU Q-series standards. It exposes signaling-point identity and configuration data (variant, CLLI code, display name, description) along with MTP2 (Message Transfer Part 2) link-layer timer settings (T01 through T07). This is largely a configuration/status monitoring MIB: operators use it to verify signaling-point identity and confirm that MTP2 layer timers are set correctly, since misconfigured timers can cause link alignment failures or SS7 link instability. It is closely tied to ITU Q-series SS7 standards and complements other Cisco ITP MIBs covering accounting, TCAP, and MSU-rate statistics. It is deployed in telecom carrier core networks on Cisco ITP nodes functioning as SS7 signaling points. Engineers can download the CISCO-ITP-SP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

An administrator would poll cItpSpVariant, cItpSpCLLICode, cItpSpDisplayName, and cItpSpDescription to confirm a signaling point's identity and protocol variant configuration before troubleshooting. Checking the MTP2 timer values cItpSpMtp2T01 through cItpSpMtp2T07 against ITU-recommended defaults would reveal a misconfigured link-alignment or proving-period timer that could be causing intermittent link flaps. Consistent timer values across all signaling points in a network are essential for stable SS7 link operation.
