Description: Handles ITP SS7 accounting records and per-route traffic statistics used for signaling point analysis.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-ITP-ACT-MIB?
CISCO-ITP-ACT-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB for the Cisco IP Transfer Point (ITP), a hardware-and-software platform that transports SS7 (Signalling System No. 7) telecom signaling traffic over IP, acting like an SS7 signaling point. It implements accounting-style statistics defined by ITU-T Q.752 for the MTP3 (Message Transfer Part 3) layer and Global Title Translation (GTT), tracking per-linkset, per-point-code traffic volumes. As a monitoring MIB it focuses on traffic/performance counters rather than physical hardware sensors: operators use it to watch sent/received packet and byte counts per linkset to gauge signaling load, capacity utilization, and route health on the ITP. It is closely tied to ITU Q-series SS7 standards and typically works alongside related Cisco ITP MIBs (e.g., signaling-point and MSU-rate MIBs) for a full picture of SS7 traffic. It is deployed in telecom carrier networks where Cisco ITP nodes carry SS7 signaling over IP core networks. Engineers can download the CISCO-ITP-ACT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ITP-ACT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IP Transfer Point (ITP)
- SS7 signaling gateway/telecom carrier router
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll cItpActMtp3Table/cItpActMtp3TableEntry, keying by cItpActMtp3LinksetName, cItpActMtp3Dpc (destination point code), and cItpActMtp3Opc (origin point code), to track cItpActMtp3RcvdPackets, cItpActMtp3SentPackets, cItpActMtp3RcvdBytes, and cItpActMtp3SentBytes per linkset. A sustained drop in cItpActMtp3RcvdPackets for a given linkset while cItpActMtp3SentPackets stays constant would suggest an asymmetric signaling route failure. The cItpActGttTable provides similar accounting for Global Title Translation traffic, useful for capacity planning on GTT-heavy routes.
What Can Be Monitored
- MTP3 linkset traffic counters
- sent/received packets and bytes per point code
- Global Title Translation (GTT) traffic stats
- signaling route utilization
