Category: Cisco Devices, Device Management, SNMP Framework

Description: Declares SNMP agent capability statements for the CISCO-FTP-CLIENT-MIB FTP file transfer implementation on Cisco platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FTP-CLIENT-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-FTP-CLIENT-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module that declares which parts of the CISCO-FTP-CLIENT-MIB a particular Cisco device's SNMP agent implements, rather than defining any runtime data objects of its own. It exposes no monitorable operational data; its sole purpose is to document implementation conformance (supported groups, variations, and value ranges) for management-station tooling that needs to know what an agent supports. As a pure capabilities statement it has no bearing on hardware or software status monitoring directly, though it indirectly documents which FTP-client status objects (e.g. transfer state) are actually available on a given platform. It is entirely dependent on, and meaningless without, the base CISCO-FTP-CLIENT-MIB it describes. It is used internally by SNMP management systems and MIB compilers during agent-capability negotiation, not by operators for day-to-day monitoring. Engineers can download the CISCO-FTP-CLIENT-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FTP-CLIENT-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral SNMP tooling context, describes Cisco device agent conformance, not a monitorable device class itself

Monitoring Examples

This module is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES statement with no data objects (sample_objects is empty), so there is no realistic runtime monitoring scenario to describe; it simply asserts which parts of CISCO-FTP-CLIENT-MIB are implemented by a given Cisco agent.
