Category: Alarm and Event Management, Cisco Devices, Network Monitoring (RMON)

Description: Manages IP SLA auto-measurement operations for automatic probe scheduling and threshold-based alerting.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-IPSLA-AUTOMEASURE-MIB?

CISCO-IPSLA-AUTOMEASURE-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB that automates the creation and lifecycle of IP SLA (Service Level Agreement) probe operations, letting an operator define reusable auto-measure groups (cipslaAutoGroupTable) that combine an operation template, a set of discovered or configured destinations (cipslaAutoGroupDestTable), a scheduling policy (cipslaAutoGroupSchedTable), and threshold-based reactions (cipslaReactTable) without manually provisioning each individual RTT operation. Group objects like cipslaAutoGroupOperType, cipslaAutoGroupDestIPADEnable, and cipslaAutoGroupQoSEnable control whether operations use ICMP/UDP jitter or other templates, whether destination IPs are auto-discovered, and whether the resulting probes get QoS-policy association, while cipslaReactThresholdRising/Falling and cipslaReactThresholdType define when a notification fires for metrics such as rtt, jitterAvg, or packetLoss. This MIB is useful for verifying that automated network-performance monitoring is correctly grouping and scheduling probes at scale, and for catching destination-discovery ageouts or reaction-threshold misconfigurations before they hide real service degradation; it depends on CISCO-IPSLA-TC-MIB for shared types and works alongside CISCO-RTTMON-MIB, which stores the actual generated per-operation results, and network teams can download the CISCO-IPSLA-AUTOMEASURE-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IPSLA-AUTOMEASURE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco routers and switches supporting IP SLA (IOS/IOS-XE)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls cipslaAutoGroupTable to confirm cipslaAutoGroupRowStatus is active for a monitoring group, then checks cipslaReactTable entries for that group's operation type; if cipslaReactThresholdRising for 'rtt' is set far above the network's normal round-trip time, genuine latency spikes would go unreported because the reaction threshold never triggers.

What Can Be Monitored

  • auto-measure group configuration and row status
  • destination auto-discovery table entries
  • reaction threshold type and rising/falling limits
  • group scheduling period, interval, and lifetime
  • QoS-enable and storage-type flags per group
