Category: Cisco Devices, Quality of Service, SNMP Framework
Description: Declares agent capabilities for the QoS Policy Information Base (PIB) framework for policy-based QoS provisioning.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-QOS-PIB-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-QOS-PIB-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module describing which features of CISCO-QOS-PIB-MIB, the Policy Information Base used for policy-based QoS provisioning via COPS-PR, a given Cisco device supports. It sits in the conformance/capability layer of Cisco's QoS management MIBs rather than exposing configuration or runtime QoS statistics itself. As with all AGENT-CAPABILITIES modules, it carries no hardware or software status telemetry (no uptime, temperature, CPU, or queue-depth counters); it only enumerates supported PIB object groups and variations for compliance purposes. It is explicitly dependent on CISCO-QOS-PIB-MIB, the functional module it profiles. Such capability statements, defined in the CISCO-QOS-PIB-CAPABILITY MIB, are consumed by policy servers and NMS tools validating what PIB-based QoS policies a particular device can accept, a technology largely superseded by later QoS MIB approaches.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-QOS-PIB-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco routers/switches (QoS PIB-capable)
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects (sample_objects is empty), so no monitoring scenario applies; it simply declares which CISCO-QOS-PIB-MIB object groups are implemented.
