What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-POWER-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-POWER-MIB is a Cisco-proprietary MIB in the Firepower/UCS management-information-model family, covering the power subsystem of Cisco Firepower security appliances and fabric interconnects. It exposes power-budgeting and inventory data — administrative and operational power caps, committed and peak power draw, boot power requirements, and catalog (rated) power figures — for chassis, blades, and power supply units. It is squarely a hardware health and capacity-planning MIB: it lets an operator monitor power supply status, redundancy, and whether a chassis is operating within its power budget/cap, which is critical for catching power supply failures or over-subscription before they cause an outage. It is part of the same object model as CISCO-FIREPOWER-STORAGE-MIB and CISCO-FIREPOWER-MAPPINGS-MIB and typically relies on those mapping tables to resolve object instances to physical locations. It is deployed on Cisco Firepower 9300/4100-series appliances and UCS fabric interconnects managed through Cisco UCS Manager or FXOS, where SNMP monitoring of the power subsystem helps catch supply failures before they escalate.

An admin polling cfprPowerBudgetTable can read cfprPowerBudgetAdminCommitted and cfprPowerBudgetAdminPeak to see how much power is allocated versus the peak the chassis may draw, and compare that against cfprPowerBudgetCatalogPower (rated/nameplate power) to check headroom. A rising cfprPowerBudgetBootPower value combined with cfprPowerBudgetCapAction indicating an active capping action flags that the chassis is approaching or exceeding its power budget, a leading indicator of brownout or forced throttling. cfprPowerBudgetAdminFPLockState shows whether the power policy is locked, useful for change-control auditing before firmware or blade upgrades.
