Description: Defines textual conventions for Cisco Class-Based Policy target MIB modules.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-CBP-TARGET-TC-MIB?
CISCO-CBP-TARGET-TC-MIB is a Cisco textual-conventions-only MIB (no OBJECT-TYPE instances of its own) that defines the shared data types used by Cisco's Class-Based Policy (CBP) MIB family to represent the target a policy-map is attached to. The CcbptTargetType enumeration distinguishes target kinds -- genIf (generic interface), atmPvc, frDlci (Frame Relay DLCI), entity (physical entity), fwZone/fwZonePair (firewall security zones), and aaaSession -- while the generic CcbptTargetId OCTET STRING is always interpreted in the context of a companion CcbptTargetType value. Type-specific encodings are spelled out precisely via DISPLAY-HINT clauses: CcbptTargetIdIf packs a 4-byte ifIndex, CcbptTargetIdAtmPvc packs ifIndex plus VPI/VCI, CcbptTargetIdFrDlci packs ifIndex plus DLCI number, and CcbptTargetIdEntity packs an entPhysicalIndex. CcbptTargetDirection (undirected/input/output/inOut) and CcbptPolicySourceType (ciscoCbQos/ciscoCbpBase) round out the module, along with CcbptPolicyIdentifier(OrZero) used to uniquely tag a policy-map attachment. Because it only supplies shared types, this MIB has no monitoring value in isolation -- it depends entirely on other Cisco CBP MIBs that import these conventions to build actual target/policy-attachment tables. It is deployed wherever Cisco IOS/IOS-XE devices report class-based QoS, firewall zone, or AAA session policy attachments, and engineers building tooling around those MIBs need the CISCO-CBP-TARGET-TC-MIB reference to correctly decode each CcbptTargetId's byte layout.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CBP-TARGET-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IOS/IOS-XE devices supporting Class-Based Policy (QoS, firewall zones, AAA sessions)
Monitoring Examples
A management application reading a policy-attachment table elsewhere in the CBP MIB family checks the accompanying CcbptTargetType value before decoding a CcbptTargetId; if the type is atmPvc but the OCTET STRING is not exactly 8 bytes as CcbptTargetIdAtmPvc's DISPLAY-HINT requires, that mismatch indicates malformed agent data rather than a real ATM PVC target.
What Can Be Monitored
- target type classification (interface/ATM PVC/Frame Relay DLCI/entity/firewall zone/AAA session)
- encoded target ID byte layout per target type
- policy attachment direction (input/output/inOut)
- policy source type (CB-QoS vs. common CBP)
- policy attachment identifier values
