Description: Manages conditional access (CA) system configuration and entitlement status on the Cisco DMN D9800 satellite receiver.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-DMN-DSG-CA-MIB?

CISCO-DMN-DSG-CA-MIB is a Cisco proprietary MIB for conditional access (CA) management on the D9800 satellite gateway, controlling entitlement and decryption of pay-TV content, part of the DMN DSG MIB family. It exposes status/configuration data: an address-descriptor (ADP) table per user/service address with encrypted and non-encrypted pass counts and totals, plus the conditional-access client (ISE) software version. Its monitoring value centers on software status and content-entitlement health: encrypted-versus-total pass counts reveal whether content is being properly descrambled and entitled, while caISEVer confirms the CA client software matches the expected release. It implements conditional-access concepts standard to DVB/MPEG broadcast systems, though structured as a Cisco-proprietary MIB. It is deployed on D9800 satellite receivers in cable/broadcast headends requiring encrypted content entitlement. Engineers can download the CISCO-DMN-DSG-CA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DMN-DSG-CA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco DMN D9800 digital satellite receiver/gateway

Monitoring Examples

caADPTable/caADPEntry, indexed by caIndex and caUsrAddr, tracks caADPEncPass/caADPEncTotal and caADPNonEncPass/caADPNonEncTotal, letting an operator spot an address where the encrypted pass count is far below the total, indicating entitlement or descrambling failures. caISEVer confirms the conditional-access software version matches the expected entitlement-management release, and caClearADP would be invoked to reset stale entitlement data for an address.

What Can Be Monitored

  • encrypted/non-encrypted pass counts
  • CA entitlement totals per address
  • conditional access (ISE) software version
  • conditional access address table entries
