Description: Monitors the authentication manager component of the Cisco CDS-TV video streaming system, tracking credential validation and access control.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-CDSTV-AUTHMGR-MIB?
CISCO-CDSTV-AUTHMGR-MIB manages the Authentication Manager component of Cisco's Content Delivery System for TV (CDS-TV), a video streaming and on-demand delivery platform for television and set-top-box clients. The data it exposes is configuration and operational status for an optional RTSP-environment feature (specifically EventIS integration) that validates client credentials against a back-office system, including server addresses, ports, thread-pool sizing, and debug level. As a software-status MIB it lets an operator confirm the authentication manager service is correctly pointed at its back-office and EventIS servers and is running with an appropriately sized thread pool to handle authentication request load, with notifications available for service-level issues. It is a Cisco proprietary module specific to the CDS-TV product suite and does not appear to depend on external standards MIBs. It is typically deployed in cable/telco video head-end and content-delivery infrastructure where RTSP-based video-on-demand services require per-request client authentication. Engineers can download the CISCO-CDSTV-AUTHMGR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CDSTV-AUTHMGR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco CDS-TV (Content Delivery System for TV) video streaming platform
Monitoring Examples
An operator checks cdstvAuthMgrAddressType / cdstvAuthMgrAddress and cdstvAuthMgrPort to confirm the Authentication Manager is configured to reach the correct back-office server, and separately verifies cdstvAuthMgrEventIsAddress and cdstvAuthMgrEventIsPort for the EventIS integration endpoint. Monitoring cdstvAuthMgrServerThreadPool alongside ciscoCdstvAuthMgrMIBNotifs helps detect when the thread pool is undersized for the volume of client authentication requests, which would manifest as slow or failed video session starts. Raising cdstvAuthMgrDebugLevel temporarily can help correlate a spike in authentication failures with a specific back-office connectivity problem.
What Can Be Monitored
- authentication back-office server address/port
- EventIS server address/port
- authentication server thread pool size
- authentication manager debug level
