Category: Cisco Devices, Telephony and VoIP

Description: Manages Dialed Number Information Service (DNIS) mappings, associating DNIS entries with Voice XML pages for audio playback features.

IPNetwork Monitor uses several OIDs from this MIB in network discovery and polling the applicable devices. Start monitoring CISCO-VOICE-DNIS-MIB with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor.

What Is CISCO-VOICE-DNIS-MIB?

CISCO-VOICE-DNIS-MIB manages Dialed Number Identification Service (DNIS) mappings on Cisco voice gateways, associating called-number entries with Voice XML (VXML) pages that drive interactive audio playback applications. It exposes configuration objects for named DNIS mappings, their source VXML URLs, refresh intervals, and per-number node entries, plus a fault indicator for URL retrieval failures. Its monitoring value centers on the health of this dynamic-content feature: cvDnisMappingUrlAccessError flags when the gateway fails to fetch or refresh its VXML script from the configured URL, which would break automated voice-response call handling for the affected DNIS numbers. It depends on the surrounding Cisco IVR/VXML voice-application framework running on the gateway. It is deployed on Cisco voice gateways/IOS routers hosting DNIS-based interactive voice response (IVR) applications. Engineers can download the CISCO-VOICE-DNIS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-VOICE-DNIS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco voice gateways/IOS routers running IVR/VXML applications

Monitoring Examples

cvDnisMappingTable/cvDnisMappingEntry exposes cvDnisMappingUrl, cvDnisMappingRefresh, and cvDnisMappingUrlAccessError, letting an admin see whether the gateway successfully retrieves its VXML application from the configured server on each refresh cycle. cvDnisNodeTable/cvDnisNodeEntry maps individual cvDnisNumber entries to cvDnisNodeUrl, so an operator can confirm each dialed number resolves to the correct VXML page, and a persistent cvDnisMappingUrlAccessError would indicate the IVR content server is unreachable.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DNIS-to-VXML mapping configuration
  • VXML content refresh status
  • URL access/fetch errors
  • per-DNIS-number node mapping
  • mapping map status
