What Is CISCO-CAS-IF-MIB?

CISCO-CAS-IF-MIB manages Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) interfaces on Cisco voice gateways and routers, covering the DS0 clear-channel and signaling group configuration used in traditional T1/E1 telephony trunks. It exposes configuration tables for DS1 CAS settings, signaling groups, DS0 channel membership, service type, and E&M (ear-and-mouth) signaling group parameters. Its monitoring role is mostly configuration/status oriented for voice trunk provisioning: administrators use it to verify how DS0 timeslots are grouped and signaled, which is essential to diagnosing call setup or trunk-group misconfiguration issues on legacy TDM voice gateways. It builds on the standard DS1/T1E1 interface MIBs for the underlying physical layer, adding the CAS/DS0 grouping semantics on top. It is deployed on Cisco voice gateways and routers terminating T1/E1 CAS trunks for PBX or PSTN interconnect. Engineers can download the CISCO-CAS-IF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

An engineer would review ccasGrpCfgTable, keyed by ccasGrpCfgIndex, checking ccasGrpCfgType, ccasGrpCfgDs0Channels, and ccasGrpCfgServiceType to confirm which DS0 timeslots are assigned to a signaling group and what service type (e.g., FXS/FXO/E&M) is configured. Cross-referencing ccasDs1IfCfgTable's ccasDs1IfCfgDs0ChannelsConfigurable against the actual ccasGrpCfgRowStatus of each group would reveal unconfigured or inactive timeslots, explaining why certain channels fail to carry calls.
