Description: Manages DHCP snooping security configuration and binding table on Cisco IE1000 industrial Ethernet switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CIE1000-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB?
CIE1000-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB is a Cisco private MIB implementing the DHCP snooping security feature on IE1000 industrial Ethernet switches. It exposes configuration objects (global snooping mode, per-interface trust mode) and a status table of dynamically learned IP-to-MAC-VLAN-interface bindings. While primarily a security feature, its status table doubles as a monitoring aid for tracking which hosts currently hold DHCP leases and on which port/VLAN, useful for device-inventory tracking and detecting rogue DHCP activity. It builds on standard DHCP concepts and depends on the switch's interface indexing (ifIndex) to associate bindings with a physical port. It is deployed in industrial automation networks that need protection against unauthorized or rogue DHCP servers on the plant floor. Engineers can download the CIE1000-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CIE1000-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IE1000 industrial Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
Polling cie1000DhcpSnoopingConfigInterfaceTable's cie1000DhcpSnoopingConfigInterfaceTrustMode shows which ports are trusted versus untrusted for DHCP traffic, while cie1000DhcpSnoopingStatusAssignedIpTable (keyed by MAC address, VLAN ID and ifIndex) reveals the live table of leased IP addresses and netmasks. An unexpected new binding appearing on an untrusted port, or a sudden spike in table size, would indicate an unauthorized device or a misbehaving DHCP client on that segment.
What Can Be Monitored
- DHCP snooping global mode
- per-interface trust mode
- DHCP binding table (IP/MAC/VLAN/interface)
- assigned IP addresses and netmasks
