What Is CHIPCONC-MIB?
CHIPCONC-MIB is a private MIB from Chipcom Corporation (acquired by 3Com), providing management objects for Chipcom's modular concentrator/hub chassis, including its Online (OL) agent modules that sit in chassis slots. It exposes per-slot agent identity and status data (station/MAC and IP address, master election status and priority), along with chassis-level concentrator type, slot count, and reset controls. For hardware/software status monitoring it directly supports checking which slot holds the master management agent, each agent module's network address, and issuing/observing chassis or agent resets — core health indicators for a multi-slot concentrator where module or master failover matters. As an older chassis-management MIB it largely stands alone within the Chipcom enterprise tree, predating widespread reliance on standard entity/chassis MIBs. It was deployed on Chipcom (later 3Com) modular hub/concentrator chassis in enterprise wiring-closet LAN deployments of the 1990s, an era when CHIPCONC-MIB SNMP monitoring was how administrators tracked master-agent failover across chassis slots.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CHIPCONC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the olAgentsTable/olAgentsEntry rows, indexed by olAgentsSlotIndex, to read olAgentsMasterStatus and olAgentsMasterPriority for each slot and confirm which agent module currently holds chassis master status. Checking olAgentsIpAddress and olAgentsStationAddr per slot verifies each agent module is reachable and correctly addressed. If olConcNumSlots reports fewer active slots than physically installed, or an unexpected olAgentsMasterReset/olConcReset event has occurred, that signals a module failure or an unplanned chassis reset requiring investigation.
