Category: SNMP Framework
Description: Defines event and fault trap notifications for Allied Telesis CentreCOM switch products.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CENTRECOM-TRAP-MIB?
CENTRECOM-TRAP-MIB is an Allied Telesis enterprise MIB defining SNMP trap (notification) objects for the CentreCOM line of Ethernet switches. Rather than exposing pollable status tables, it primarily defines the structure and variable bindings for asynchronous fault and event notifications the switch sends to a management station. Its monitoring value is centered on faults and status-change events, with link up/down, power or environmental faults, and configuration-change notifications being the kinds of conditions typically carried in CentreCOM's trap MIBs, giving administrators near-real-time alerts on hardware and operational state changes without needing to poll. It is a standalone Allied Telesis vendor MIB, generally used alongside standard SNMPv2-TRAP-MIB conventions rather than IETF fault MIBs. It's deployed in enterprise and SMB networks using Allied Telesis CentreCOM switches, where a management station is configured as a trap receiver for proactive alerting. Engineers can download the CENTRECOM-TRAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CENTRECOM-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Allied Telesis CentreCOM switch
Monitoring Examples
A network management station registers as a trap receiver and listens for CentreCOM trap notifications; a link-down trap on a given port would immediately flag an unexpected cable pull or NIC failure without waiting for the next poll cycle. A power or environmental trap would alert operators to a supply or thermal fault as soon as it occurs. Because no sample objects were available for this MIB, exact trap OID names could not be confirmed, but the module's purpose as a fault-notification MIB is clear from its module description and vendor context.
What Can Be Monitored
- link up/down events
- power/environmental fault traps
- configuration change notifications
- general fault/alarm traps
