Description: Manages High-Speed Serial Interface (HSSI) configuration on C-PRODUCT WAN devices.

What Is C-PRODUCT-HSSI-MIB?
C-PRODUCT-HSSI-MIB manages High-Speed Serial Interface (HSSI) ports on C-PRODUCT WAN access/ATM platforms, covering both port configuration and cell-level traffic statistics. It exposes per-port configuration such as loopback type, peak rate, line rate, and scrambling settings, alongside statistics counters for transmitted/received ATM cells, idle/unassigned cells, and header-check-sequence (HCS) errored cells. Its monitoring focus is hardware/link performance status: loopback state reveals whether a port is in a test mode rather than passing live traffic, and rising hssiPortHCSErrorCells alongside idle/unassigned cell counts signals a degrading physical link or clocking mismatch on the HSSI interface. It is an ATM-over-HSSI vendor MIB used alongside the platform's base system MIB (C-PRODUCT-BASE-MIB) and standard interface MIBs for full port context. Deployment context is legacy WAN access equipment using HSSI-connected ATM links between routers/switches in carrier or enterprise backbones. Engineers can download the C-PRODUCT-HSSI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in C-PRODUCT-HSSI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- C-PRODUCT series WAN access device with HSSI interfaces
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll hssiPortTable/hssiPortEntry to confirm hssiPortLoopbackType is off during normal operation and check hssiPortLineRate/hssiPortPeakRate against the provisioned circuit speed. Comparing hssiPortStatsTable counters hssiPortRxCells and hssiPortTxCells against hssiPortHCSErrorCells reveals what fraction of received cells are arriving corrupted. A climbing hssiPortIdleUnassignedCells count with falling real traffic cells would suggest the far end has stopped sending data, indicating a link or peer failure.
What Can Be Monitored
- port loopback mode
- line rate and peak rate configuration
- transmitted/received ATM cells
- HCS (header check sequence) errored cells
- idle/unassigned cell counts
