Description: Manages constant bit rate (CBR) circuit configuration on C-PRODUCT ATM access devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is C-PRODUCT-CBR-MIB?

C-PRODUCT-CBR-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for configuring Constant Bit Rate (CBR) circuits on DS1/E1 access cards within ATM access devices, defining per-card and per-port line configuration for these fixed-bandwidth circuit-emulation services. It exposes configuration data at both the card level, such as which physical port a DS1/E1 card references, and the port level, including line build-out, line code, port mode, framing, timing source, signaling method, and CRC-4 setting, plus virtual-circuit configuration for the CBR service. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration/software-status verification: confirming that line code, framing, and timing settings match the expected DS1/E1 line parameters helps an operator catch a mismatched line configuration that would otherwise cause circuit errors or alarms, and the signaling/CRC-4 settings affect error-detection behavior on the line. It builds on standard DS1/E1 physical-layer conventions within a proprietary ATM access-device MIB. It is deployed on ATM access multiplexers/CBR gateways in carrier networks provisioning fixed-bandwidth DS1/E1 circuit-emulation services over ATM. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the C-PRODUCT-CBR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in C-PRODUCT-CBR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ATM access device / CBR circuit-emulation gateway

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cbrDS1E1CardConfTable/cbrDS1E1CardConfEntry to confirm cbrDS1E1CardRefPort mapping, then check cbrDS1E1PortConfTable/cbrDS1E1PortConfEntry indexed by port for cbrDS1E1PortConfLineCode and cbrDS1E1PortConfFraming to verify they match what the far-end DS1/E1 device expects. A mismatched cbrDS1E1PortConfTiming between two ends of a CBR circuit would reveal a likely source of slips or bit errors on the circuit, while an unexpected cbrDS1E1PortConfCRC-4 setting could explain spurious CRC alarms. cbrDS1E1VcConfig would be checked to confirm the virtual circuit backing the CBR service is provisioned consistently with the physical port settings.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS1/E1 card-to-port mapping
  • line build-out and line code settings
  • port mode and framing configuration
  • timing source
  • signaling method and CRC-4 setting
