Category: Network Interfaces, VLAN and Bridging
Description: Manages base bridging and routing functions on a multi-function access device, covering forwarding and spanning tree.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BASEBRDD-MIB?
BASEBRDD-MIB, despite its bridging/routing-suggestive name, is built around DMTF-style component identification and Dell-specific hardware sensor objects, likely for a Dell server or network appliance. It exposes a DMTF component ID table (manufacturer, product, version, serial number, installation, and verification attributes) alongside a Dell-specific temperature probe table reporting probe state and its parent component index. Its clearest monitoring value is hardware status: dellTemperatureProbeState reports whether a temperature probe is reading normal, warning, or failure conditions, while the DMTF component table's manufacturerAtt1/productAtt2/versionAtt3/serialNumberAtt4 fields let an admin positively identify and inventory hardware components. It builds on DMTF (Desktop Management Task Force) standard MIF/component-identification conventions (dmtfStdMifs, dmtfDynOids) rather than a purely proprietary Dell scheme. It is deployed on Dell server/appliance hardware where component inventory and thermal monitoring are needed alongside basic bridging/routing functions. Engineers can download the BASEBRDD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BASEBRDD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell server or network appliance hardware
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls dellTemperatureProbeTable/dellTemperatureProbeEntry for dellTemperatureProbeState to detect an overheating or failed thermal probe on the chassis, cross-referencing tempParentIndexAtt1 to identify which parent component that probe belongs to. The dMTFComponentIDTable's serialNumberAtt4 and productAtt2 fields would be polled to confirm hardware inventory matches expected serial numbers and product models during an asset audit.
What Can Be Monitored
- temperature probe state
- component manufacturer/product/version identification
- component serial number
- installation/verification attributes
