Description: GE MDS NX-series radio interface MIB defining wireless link performance and configuration objects for GE MDS NX platform devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MDS-IF-NX-MIB?
MDS-IF-NX-MIB is a GE MDS (General Electric MDS, now GE Grid Solutions/MDS Orbit) enterprise MIB module for the NX-series 900 MHz wireless radio interface, used in industrial/utility wireless telemetry networks. It exposes both hardware identification/status data (serial number, firmware revision, hardware ID/revision, current modem, temperature) and link-level operational data (link status, initialization status, alarms, and access-point address information). As a monitoring resource it explicitly supports hardware/software health monitoring of the radio: tracking device temperature, firmware/hardware revision for inventory and upgrade planning, link/init status for connectivity faults, and an alarms object for fault conditions on the radio link. It depends on the standard IF-MIB interface-indexing convention to associate the NX radio interface with the device's broader interface table, and complements other GE MDS radio MIBs for the device family. It is deployed on GE MDS NX-series wireless radios used in SCADA/telemetry networks for utilities, oil & gas, and other industrial remote-monitoring applications. Engineers can download the MDS-IF-NX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MDS-IF-NX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- GE MDS NX-series 900 MHz wireless radio
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll mIfNxLinkStatus and mIfNxInitStatus in mIfNxStatusTable/mIfNxStatusEntry to confirm the 900 MHz radio link to a remote site is up and properly initialized, and check mIfNxAlarms for any active fault conditions. Monitoring mIfNxTemperature over time can reveal a radio module overheating in an outdoor enclosure before it causes a link outage, while mIfNxFirmwareRevision and mIfNxHardwareRevision let an operator confirm all radios in a SCADA network are running consistent firmware, and mIfNxCurrentModem identifies which modem/frequency configuration is currently active on the link.
What Can Be Monitored
- radio link status
- initialization status
- active alarms
- device temperature
- firmware/hardware revision
- current modem/AP address info
