Category: Cisco Devices, Network Interfaces, SNMP Framework

Description: Declares SNMP agent capability statements for the CISCO-ETHERLIKE-EXT-MIB Ethernet extensions on various Cisco platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-ETHERLIKE-EXT-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-ETHERLIKE-EXT-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that documents which objects and features of the CISCO-ETHERLIKE-EXT-MIB (Ethernet interface extensions) are actually implemented by a given SNMP agent release. It belongs to the general Ethernet/interfaces management area rather than defining new runtime data itself. As a conformance module it does not directly expose hardware or software status counters; instead it records implementation compliance so management tools know which Ethernet extension features to expect on a given platform. It exists purely to complement CISCO-ETHERLIKE-EXT-MIB, on which it is entirely dependent. It is used internally by NMS tooling during MIB compliance checks rather than for day-to-day operational polling. Engineers can download the CISCO-ETHERLIKE-EXT-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ETHERLIKE-EXT-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral capability statement, applies to Cisco devices implementing CISCO-ETHERLIKE-EXT-MIB Ethernet interfaces

Monitoring Examples

This module contains no runtime data objects (sample_objects was empty) and defines only AGENT-CAPABILITIES statements mapping supported groups/variations of CISCO-ETHERLIKE-EXT-MIB to specific Cisco software releases. There is no realistic monitoring scenario to describe honestly, since it carries no pollable counters or tables itself.
