Category: DOCSIS and Cable
Description: Provides manager process trace and debugging configuration objects for BAS CMTS internal diagnostics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BAS-MGR-TRACE-MIB?
BAS-MGR-TRACE-MIB provides internal trace-logging configuration for chassis manager cards on Broadband Access Systems equipment. It exposes a table of trace-log entries keyed by chassis/slot/interface/port that lets an operator set the logging component and verbosity level for that location. Its role in monitoring is diagnostic rather than performance-oriented: it lets support engineers enable detailed debug output on a specific internal software component to investigate a fault, rather than exposing hardware sensors or traffic counters. It is tied to BAS's internal chassis-manager software architecture rather than any external standard. It is deployed by vendor support or network engineers troubleshooting a BAS CMTS manager card during an active fault investigation, drawing on the BAS-MGR-TRACE-MIB MIB to enable component-level trace logging.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BAS-MGR-TRACE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Broadband Access System (BAS) chassis manager cards
Monitoring Examples
An engineer sets basMgrTraceLogLevel for a specific basMgrTraceLogComponentId on a given basMgrTraceLogChassis/basMgrTraceLogSlot/basMgrTraceLogIf/basMgrTraceLogLPort to raise log verbosity while reproducing an issue, then reviews the resulting internal logs outside of SNMP to diagnose the fault. This table is primarily a configuration/control surface rather than a source of ongoing performance counters.
What Can Be Monitored
- trace log level per component
- logging enabled state per interface
