Category: Fibre Channel and Storage
Description: Generic disk array manager interface for RAID group, volume, and disk health monitoring.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ArrayManager-MIB?
ArrayManager-MIB is a generic (vendor-neutral in naming, though typically shipped by a specific disk-array OEM) MIB for managing external or internal disk array storage subsystems, covering RAID group configuration, logical volume status, and individual physical disk health. It is expected to expose a RAID group table, a volume/LUN table, and a physical disk table, each reporting configuration (RAID level, capacity) and operational status (online/degraded/failed, rebuild progress). Its central monitoring value is hardware health of the storage subsystem: detecting a degraded or failed RAID group, a disk predicted-to-fail or already failed, and rebuild-in-progress status, which are critical early-warning indicators before data-loss-causing multi-disk failures. It likely depends on general SCSI/RAID storage conventions and may complement a vendor's broader array-controller MIB covering controller and enclosure hardware (power, fan, temperature). It is typically deployed on standalone or SAN-attached RAID disk array storage systems in data-center environments. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the ArrayManager-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ArrayManager-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- disk array storage system (RAID/SAN controller)
Monitoring Examples
No object or table names were provided in the source for this module, so specific identifiers cannot be confirmed; in practice, given its stated purpose, an administrator would be expected to poll a RAID-group status table for degraded/failed state, a volume table for online/offline status, and a per-disk table for health/predictive-failure indicators to catch a failing drive before a RAID group loses redundancy.
What Can Be Monitored
- RAID group status
- logical volume/LUN status
- physical disk health/failure state
- RAID rebuild progress
