What Is AVIDIA-SUBTEND-MIB?

AVIDIA-SUBTEND-MIB is a Paradyne/PairGain (Avidia broadband access platform) proprietary MIB configuring subtending, a cascading arrangement letting a downstream Avidia unit's ATM traffic be carried through an upstream unit. Its subtend-interface table, keyed by index, records row status, VPI/VCI, source/destination IP address and subnet mask, parent interface index and IP address, and admin/operational status. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm a subtended unit's VPI/VCI and parent-interface binding, and its operational status. It is deployed on Paradyne/PairGain Avidia broadband access platforms. Engineers can download the AVIDIA-SUBTEND-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AVIDIA-SUBTEND-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

If ifAdminStatus is changed to up(1) then ifOperStatus should change to up(1) if the interface is ready to transmit and receive network traffic; it should change to dormant(5) if the interface is waiting for external actions (such as a serial line waiting for an incomming connection); it should remain in the down(2) state if and only if there is a fault that prevents if from going to the up(1) state.
INT avSubtendIndexNext	1.3.6.1.4.1.927.1.9.14.1.2	INTEGER	read-only	This object contains an appropriate value to be used for avSubtendIndex when creating entries in the avSubtendIfTable. The value 0 indicates that no unassigned entries are available. To obtain the avSubtendIndex value for a new entry, the manager issues a management protocol retrieval operation to obtain the current value of this object.
