Category: Alarm and Event Management, Vendor: Avaya, Wireless and WLAN

Description: Defines SNMP notifications for Avaya WLAN mobility switch events including AP failures and roaming alerts.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AVAYA-WLAN-MOB-SW-NOTIFICATIONS-MIB?

AVAYA-WLAN-MOB-SW-NOTIFICATIONS-MIB defines SNMP notifications for Avaya WLAN mobility switch events, such as access point failures and mobility-controller peer connectivity or roaming issues. Its auxiliary objects carry peer device address and type, connection failure reason, and mobility VLAN/server context accompanying each trap, rather than continuous performance counters. It is a fault/notification-focused module: it is used to alert operators the moment a mobility controller peer link fails or an AP-related roaming problem occurs, complementing (and depending on) the base Avaya WLAN switch MIB that supplies ongoing AP/client state. It supplies only the notification definitions and auxiliary varbinds, not the underlying state tables themselves. It is deployed on Avaya (later Extreme Networks) wireless mobility switches/controllers in enterprise WLAN environments. Engineers can download the AVAYA-WLAN-MOB-SW-NOTIFICATIONS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AVAYA-WLAN-MOB-SW-NOTIFICATIONS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Avaya (Extreme Networks) WLAN mobility switch/controller

Monitoring Examples

When a mobility controller peer link fails, the resulting trap carries avWlanNotifAuxPeerDeviceInetAddress/avWlanNotifAuxPeerDeviceInetAddressType and avWlanNotifAuxConnectionFailureReason so the NMS can show which peer failed and why. avWlanNotifAuxMobilityVlanName and avWlanNotifAuxVlanServerInetAddress/avWlanNotifAuxVlanServerInetAddressType help pinpoint which mobility VLAN or server context was affected, aiding diagnosis of roaming failures between controllers.

What Can Be Monitored

  • mobility controller peer connectivity failures
  • peer/AP device address and type
  • connection failure reason
  • affected mobility VLAN/server context
