Description: LigoWave proprietary extension MIB for IEEE 802.11 wireless parameters on LigoWave outdoor wireless access points and bridges.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LIGO-802DOT11-EXT-MIB?

The LIGO-802DOT11-EXT-MIB is a proprietary extension module from LigoWave, a maker of outdoor point-to-point/point-to-multipoint wireless bridges and access points, layered on top of the standard IEEE 802.11 MIB to expose vendor-specific radio parameters not covered by the standard. It provides per-radio-interface configuration and status data such as operating mode, protocol, SSID, country code, frequency/channel, channel bandwidth, and transmit power. This MIB is used mainly for monitoring and verifying wireless RF configuration and link-layer software state on the radio hardware, which is key for diagnosing outdoor wireless bridge misconfiguration, regulatory-domain compliance, or unexpected channel/power drift. It extends and depends on the standard IEEE802dot11-MIB, adding LigoWave-specific fields alongside standard 802.11 objects. It is typically deployed on LigoWave (and OEM-rebranded) outdoor wireless bridges and access points used for long-range point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless links. Engineers can download the LIGO-802DOT11-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LIGO-802DOT11-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • LigoWave outdoor wireless bridges and access points
  • LigoWave point-to-multipoint (PtMP) radios

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll ligoDot11IfConfTable/ligoDot11IfConfEntry (keyed by ligoDot11IfParentIndex) to check ligoDot11IfMode, ligoDot11IfESSID, ligoDot11IfChannel, and ligoDot11IfTxPower for each radio interface on a bridge. A mismatch between ligoDot11IfChannelBandwidth or ligoDot11IfFrequency and the expected link plan would indicate a misconfigured or drifted radio, while an unexpectedly low ligoDot11IfTxPower could explain a degraded point-to-point link. The ligoDot11IfCountryCode field also lets an operator confirm regulatory-domain settings match the deployment location.

What Can Be Monitored

  • radio operating mode
  • SSID/ESSID
  • channel and frequency
  • channel bandwidth
  • transmit power
  • country/regulatory code

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using ligoDot11IfRxInvalidCrypt OID:

Select a LigoWave outdoor wireless bridge/access point (802.11 extension) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type ligoDot11IfRxInvalidCrypt into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports the number of received packets the hardware was unable to decrypt. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
