What Is AT-SWITCH-MIB?

AT-SWITCH-MIB is Allied Telesis's core private MIB for switch-wide management, covering port-level configuration, VLAN port membership, and traffic counters across their switch product lines. It exposes per-port ingress/egress rate limits, VLAN assignment and control settings, and model-specific port counter tables (e.g., for the 56xx series), along with debug variables and generic trap definitions. Its monitoring value is largely software/configuration-plane combined with basic traffic counters - letting an administrator confirm port rate-limit settings, VLAN membership correctness, and per-port traffic counts, functioning as a general health check on switching behavior rather than physical sensor data. It is an Allied Telesis enterprise MIB independent of external standard MIBs, covering functionality that parallels (but does not directly reuse) the standard IF-MIB and Q-BRIDGE-MIB. It is deployed broadly across Allied Telesis managed switch deployments in enterprise and SMB networks. An administrator would check swiPortTable/swiPortEntry for a given swiPortNumber to confirm swiPortIngressLimit and swiPortEgressLimit match intended rate-limiting policy, and cross-reference swiPortVlanTable/swiPortVlanEntry to verify swiPortVlanVlanId assignment is correct for that port. Reviewing swi56xxPortCounterTable/swi56xxPortCounterEntry traffic counters alongside swiTrap notifications would reveal a port experiencing unexpected congestion or errors, useful for isolating a misbehaving connected device.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using swiDebugMemoryParityErrors OID:

Select an Allied Telesis managed switch or router as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type swiDebugMemoryParityErrors into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports the for switches based on certain switch chips, the number of parity errors that have been detected in packet memory associated with the switch. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases between polls, since a rising count of errors, failures, or discards often points to a real underlying problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
