Category: Device Management, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent

Description: Manages system-level parameters including hostname, contact, and software versions on Ascend equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASCEND-MIBSYS1-MIB?

ASCEND-MIBSYS1-MIB is an Ascend Communications (later Lucent) proprietary MIB holding base system identity and console-management profile settings on Ascend MAX/Pipeline access equipment. Its profile table records the system name, contact, and location strings alongside console terminal rate, console access, console security level, and remote system management enable state. As a configuration/inventory MIB it lets an administrator confirm basic device identity fields and console security posture are set as expected. It is deployed on Ascend/Lucent WAN access routers as part of the base system profile. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBSYS1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBSYS1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ascend Communications (Lucent) MAX/Pipeline WAN access routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator audits systemProfile-ConsoleSecurity and systemProfile-SystemRmtMgmt across a fleet of routers to confirm remote management access is restricted to the intended security level.
